Kientele! Baller ass Techno!
With over 58 releases, literally thousands of tracks & 80 remixes appearing on over 30 labels, Angel Alanis (Tresor, Tronic, A-squared) has returned to the straight up techno that earned his reputation. Working with co-founder, Marea Stamper AKA Foursquare (fresh from a project with acid innovator DJ Pierre), Alanis and Stamper present the debut release for the Klientele label. Klientele showcases the bleeding edge of techno, not unlike Alanis' "Life", which was charted in May by techno luminary, Adam Beyer and Foursquare's upcoming work for which a remix by Kyle Geiger of Drumcode is planned. The Klientele project is the first official communication from the pair since remixing Portishead's "Third" in its entirety. Their work on that project was almost universally praised: Laurent Garnier ("Excellent!"), Miss Kittin ("Yo... It really rocks... " ), Drop the Lime ("Killer..."), Bob Rifo/ Bloody Beetroots ("Amazing stuff guys!!!!! Love, Bob Rifo"), New York Magazine (Turns Portishead's Machine Gun "into an actual, you know, song"), Benny Benassi: ("I love").*KLIT001 is Receiving support from DJs: Danny Tenaglia, Laurent Garnier, Dave Clarke, John Selway, Ken Ishii, Michel de Hey, D.
Ramirez, Titonton Duvante, Xpansul, Peter Hook (New Order), DJ Misjah, Ibiza Global Radio, Thomas Penton, Lance Desardi, Submerge 101, David Hollands, DJ FEX

STRAIGHT FROM THE UNDERGROUND:
Coming out of semi-retirement…The legend himself!
DJ Hyperactive
If you grew up in the Midwest, this man, perhaps more than any other was a part of your dance music childhood. DJ Hyperactive hails from the south side of Chicago, where he honed his djing and producing skills for the past 20 years. Hyperactive started out as a DJ and 14 years ago, made the transition into writing as well. To date, he has released over 50 projects and remixes for labels such as Contact, Hybrid, Missile, Plus 8, Communique, Drop Bass, Planet of Drums, Smile, Analog, Saboteur, High Octane, Uppercut and his own label imprint, 4 Track Records.
As a DJ/Artist, Hyperactive's popularity took off rapidly due to his DJ skills and frequent releases, and became a very sought after DJ/Artist worldwide. He is renowned for playing at many of the top clubs/events in the U.S. and overseas. The list includes some of the top clubs and events such as, "The Orbit" in Leeds", The "Liquid Room" in Tokyo, and "Love Parade" 1996 in Berlin. In 1997, Hyperactive relocated to Southern California, where he continues to produce under the name of DJ Hyperactive, but also has produced under aliases Joe Manu, Samoan Acid Stomper and Drumaddik. DJ Hyperactive also co-produces along with world renowned DJ/Artist DJ ESP as the group "Fuzz Face". While he might not jack it at 145 beats per minutes he has reemerged in 2008 with his 4Track Records label to immediate international praise. Here's what his contemporaries are saying.
Laurent Garnier, "yes yes yes!" Deep Dish (Ali 'Dubfire' Shirazinia) "5 out of 5!"
Derek Plaslaiko
Some people filter through the record bins, taking what are on the wall or record store employee suggestions. Then there are people who dig deeper into the dusty crates, and absorb music like a sponge; ignoring labels, bucking trends – forever on a quest to find the perfect record. Derek Plaslaiko unquestionably falls into the latter category. As a teen equally transfixed by Mojo and Wizard cassettes and Minor Threat 7"s, Plaslaiko followed the beats from his hometown 20 miles south of Detroit to the epicenter of Detroit techno, then enjoying its third wave of success. He quietly paid his dues on Detroit's rave circuit, and was a crucial piece of the puzzle for the legendary Poorboy and Analog parties of the mid-nineties. He quickly earned a reputation for forward thinking DJ sets that were clinical, sophisticated and extremely sensual. This combination resulted in a residency for Family, the weekly party at Detroit's Motor. With a reputation for high energy sets that were versatile and tasteful, Plaslaiko slowly became in demand on the Midwestern club circuit; sharing the stage with such techno luminares as John Acquaviva, Kevin Saunderson, Richardo Villalobos, Baby Ford, and Matthew Herbert. It was also during that time Plaslaiko was asked by Carl Craig to perform at the inaugural edition of the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. In 2003, Plaslaiko became part of the original team of DJs at Detroit's Untitled parties, sharing a residency with Tadd Mullinix (aka James T. Cotton), Matthew Dear and Mike Servito. In 2004 he made the decision to head east and set up camp in New York City, determined to bring a slice of the Motor City to the Big Apple. Currently, Derek is one of the resident DJs at the Bunker (Subtonic) in NYC, as well as an integral part of the Wolf + Lamb monthly parties. He was honored in the Village Voice 2006 "Best Of" poll as New York's Best Techno DJ and has been traveling the globe since dropping ridiculous mixes for sites like Resident Advisor in the process.
Lady Foursquare versus Angel Alanis
In their shared northwest Chicago basement studio, Angel Alanis (Tresor, Subliminal, Tronic, A-squared) and Marea Stamper, AKA Lady Foursquare (Dust Traxx, Afro-Acid, A-squared) previewed the first single from Portishead's "Third" and decided to remix it on spec, emailing their work to only a handful of industry contacts for feedback. Within 48 hours of sending out their renegade remix, writers at the New York Magazine blog were raving about Alanis and Stamper's remix of "Machine Gun" in the same breath as Oukast, Three-Six Mafia and My Morning Jacket. Emails poured in from fans like Miss Kittin, Laurent Garnier, Drop the Lime and Benny Benassi. Adding Local Hero, they formed the core and founding members of Noise Floor Crew. Additionally, guest crew members Cartel/Renegade Hardware/Tech Itch and Iheartcomix stepped in to contribute 3 of the 11 tracks. With the momentum from the Noise Floor project Alanis and Foursquare have launched their debut label Klientele. With planned remixes from the Kyle Geiger (of Drumcode) and a first round barnburner from the Kaufe Musik gang (fresh from work with Jesse Rose, Donk Boys and Jan Driver), Klientele promises a return ticket for Chicago to forefront of international techno. The label, now in pre-release, is already charting globally and receiving support from Danny Tenaglia, Ibiza Sonica, Ibiza Global Radio, Laurent Garnier and Dave Clarke on White Noise Radio.
The Librarian versus Evan Scott
The Librarian, the moniker of Ohio-based Matthew Cooper, brings new life to a club scene that has become status quo with unabashed charisma and showmanship. His heart lies in the sounds of techno with strong gothic undertones and minimal composition. Constantly on the cusp of the avant-garde, he delights in giving listeners a sound that they generally have never heard. As a DJ he has performed with artists such as Ark, Outputmessage, Derek Plaslaiko, Kate Simko, JPLS, Skoozbot, Kyle Geiger, and Ryan Elliott of international fame. Although he has primarily been a DJ for the last six years, production is his new direction and love. The Librarian brought us his first single entitled The Hornet's Nest in 2007. This single is taken from his most recent work entitled The Colony. Eram quod es, eris quod sum.
Evan Scott started as an accomplished producer under the moniker Contrivance, having released 2 albums of dark, beat-heavy drum and bass and a number of releases that expressed the ambience and mathematics of idm and electro. His discography as Contrivance implemented a musical chiaroscuro, melding the light with the dark and painting beauty with undertones of the grotesque. He then embarked on a vacation from his previous moniker and spent time exploring alternate forms of instrumentation and expression. Through DJing as well as the discovery of newly found technology, Evan Scott honed his skills managing to meld a myriad of genres including idm, micro house, and minimal techno. After his 2 year hiatus, he released Crane on RaceCarProductions. This single was a precursor to his EP entitled Five Style Fists; however, this is not his finale, Evan Scott has a remix to come out on Moodgadget in 2008. Much is still to come from this young prodigy.
UPSTAIRS:
Fishead
You may know (or fear) this man from his collaborations with Dan Doormouse. Perhaps we should let him speak for himself: "I live in Montreal, Canada... I've been DJing for close to 20 years and haven't cared about fame or fortune for a long time. I play what I want to play - and play it the way I think is most interesting. It's all about expression.
"
Shiva
For 13 years, Indianapolis techno mainstay DJ Shiva has brought a multitude of techno flavors to dancefloors nationwide. From electro to minimal, Chicago Jack to Detroit soul, the deepest to the hardest techno, her attention deficit disorder requires variety in both music and technique. With her foray into the realm of dubstep, the same rules (or lack of them) apply. From straight up chest rattling bangers to skeletonized exercises in minimal dub to bits and pieces of electro and techno, it's all in the mix. Utilizing over a decade of experience on the ones and twos, combined with the flexibility and creative possiblities of Ableton Live to re-edit, loop on the fly and add effects and beats, Shiva brings a fresh approach to the dubstep palette.
With her recent vinyl release on Dubkraft (w/ production partner Alien Pimp), to her radio show on Dubstep. fm, Shiva is determined not only to spread the eclectic sounds of dubstep and techno to new audiences, but to quite possibly live in a subwoofer someday.
Jason Clark
Jason Clark has been a fundamental element of Midwest experimental dance culture as a founding member of sonic rabble rousers SKL and organizer of many of the regions most important and forward thinking dance events. Weaving inter-media elements into the SKL live show and exhibiting a reach and grasp of electronic music unlimited by genre, his sets are a patchwork of techno, house electro and experimental.
Paul Fear
Paul Fear is never afraid to push the boundaries of sound. Expected the unexpected from the hardest working Paul Fear in show-business.
SKL Allstars
SKL is an ever changing group of musician and artists, formed by Jason Clark, Ian Ritchie, and Mark Foxworth in the late 90's. Since then we've performed all over the country in different guises and had quite a bit of fun along the way. SKL for all intents and purposes is defunct, but we do re-emerge every now and then for a bit of sonic fun.

I've been trying to learn a few tricks on my bike. Been playing around with pogos some, got some okay single hops, but really haven't dedicated much time. I think by next weekend I want to be able to pogo, and ride small wheelies. I hope to get out and practice some tomorrow. More videos below.
