Bridgestone how I wish you could be mine!

It is so Beautiful

Tired.

So last night was cool, got to see matt play, and chill, we goofed around on our bikes in his parking lot prior to the show. Got up today, went for a ride to Donato's pizza(oh how I love thee) and rode back to his spot. I chilled for a bit, drove home, got cleaned up and now at work. Just wanting to highlight my friend Evan's blog that is based around his graphic design

Today is tight!

Went for a ride to the highlands with cat, she had to work so I went from there to Bardstown Road bicycles, picked up a new tire, and ordered some new shoes, they are pictured below.

Remind me of old touring shoes, normal looking soul but really stiff. I can't wait to rock them. On my way to NKY shortly to hook up with my boy Matt and watch him play tonight in Dayton. Off to get cleaned up. Go out and enjoy the day!

Nice!

Saw this at Trackosaurus Rex
"I'm not sure if that was PC but that is the first thing that came to mind after watching this little short by the Women of Fixed Gear and Kirk Mastin! Can not wait to see the second edit...HURRY UP!"

JAMZ 2!!

Quite a bit of hip hop/rap in this update, and a few techno/electro house type jams as well, Enjoy!

Mike The 2600 King-Mixin it up for Disobelle
TRACKLIST:

Strawberry Alarm Clock “The World’s On Fire”
I used this track for my remix of Rick James’ “Give it to Me.” Awesome uptempo psych rock song from the group you might recognize as “the guys who did ‘Incense and Peppermints.’”

Doug Surreal & Mike the 2600 King “Give it to Me (remix pt. 2)”I took the last few bars of my Rick James remix and sent them to my dude Doug, who added some keyboard parts and extra percussion. He sent it back and I extended the ESG vocal part and added the James Brown nuggets. It ended up kinda groovy. In 1999, Doug and I started a DJ and production crew in St. Louis called The Litterthugz with Bitch Ass Darius and a few other folks and now he’s living in a wigwam somewhere eating wheatgrass and drinking 808s.

Arcade Fire “Black Mirror (Mike 2600 Party Version)”
We (my design and screenprinting studio Burlesque of North America) design and print all of Arcade Fire’s tour posters and have done a few t-shirts and other tour graphics for them, so I thought I’d be totally sick of their music at this point, but I still really dig it. They’re great to see live in concert too. It’s like a Superbowl halftime show but with good music. When this acapella surfaced, I couldn’t resist doing a remix.

Santana “Mirage”
I extended the drums out of the end of the Arcade Fire remix and threw this great Santana song which I stole from my Dad’s music collection last time I was at my parents’ house. Hi Dad!

Mike the 2600 King “Rumble (Gettin’ it On)”
Big bass cut-and-paste number I whooped up and added a Big Daddy Kane acapella on top of. Rapp attack.

Eric B. & Rakim “Hypnotic”
This is one of those ‘unreleased’ songs that everyone probably has now since everyone has every song ever. Either way, Rakim is still probably the best rapper of all time.

Jermaine Jackson “Erucu”
From the “Mahogany” soundtrack. What a cut.

Breakout “Planet Funk”
B-side of their smash “Planet Rock” 12″ single on Melting Pot Music, one of my favorite new labels (and I’m not just saying that).

Yoko Ono “Walking on Thin Ice”
I overheard her performing at Pitchfork Music Festival last year and that shit sounded like 10 cats getting operated on by a blind, drunken veterinarian. Yo. Shit was not cool. I’m glad this song doesn’t sound like that.

Doug Surreal “Disco Sleaze”
Hopefully everyone will be on Doug’s jock after they hear this track. He did this one like 3 or 4 years ago. Stay tuned for the Motel Crew project.

Boney M “Felicidad”
I don’t think I’ve heard a Boney M song I don’t like.

TMS ft. Jimmy Graham “Get the Feelin’”
It’s like that perfect halfway point between disco and funk.

MSTRKRFT “The Looks”
This song and “Get the Feelin” go kinda really well together. It was outside of the MSTRKRFT show last October in San Francisco that Serg from beerandrap.com introduced me to bacon dogs. Shit yeah.

Ghosthustler “Busy Busy Busy (Prince Klassen Young Professional re-edit)”
My dude Klassen introduced us all to this great group out of Austin TX and served up this hot re-edit of their already hot song.

Chaka Khan “Fate”
Girls request Madonna. Women request Chaka.

Stardust “Music Sounds Better With You”
Congratulations to this song for its 1000th appearance in a mix for a blog! We did it!

Cougar Shuttle “Tow”
Wizard of electronic music, astro-physics genius, and casual mathematician, DJing with Cougar probably shaped the way I DJ more than any other individual ever. For real. This guy is a genius and this full-throttle acid song is just the tip of the iceberg of what dude is capable of doing.

Snowden “Kill the Power”
I think I saw my friend Mary wearing a Snowden button a few years ago but first heard this song on my friend Audrey’s radio show and was hooked, so this one is dedicated to both of them.

George Harrison “What is Life”
This is like the better version of “Got My Mind Set on You” from 10 or 20 years before. When is this song from? I don’t even know but I bet Google knows.

Grassroots “Wait a Million Years”
Oldies rock banger.

Mike the 2600 King “Fuck You Pay Me”
Boooyaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Pase Rock “Fingertips pt. 3.5″
This is my favorite song to transition from non-clubby bassy stuff into clubby bassy stuff. Stevie + handclaps + 808s + Lyn Collins drums. What else do you really need?

Say Wut “Futuristic”
This dude has the best formula for Baltimore club music and everything he makes it just nasty.

Bird Peterson “The Jump Off”
I love this guy. He can DJ for 2 hours while only spinning his own music and it’s all incredible. This song is available on the DO IT TO IT 12″ single our crew just released. You can learn more about the record at http://burlesquedesign.com

Egyptian Lover “I Cry (Every Night)”
EMO BASS!

Blondie “Call Me”
Girls request Madonna. Cool girls with tattoos request Blondie.

LCD Soundsystem “Daft Punk is Playing in My House”

Daft Punk “Human After All”
Do these really need an explanation?

Danzig “Mother (instrumental)”
Whoa, I’ve been into Danzig for almost 20 years. Still have my original Danzig I tape and I remember exactly where I was driving when my Lucifuge tape snapped… I was heading Southwestish on First Avenue in downtown Minneapolis with Aaron Horkey righ near the parking lot with the Greyhound station in it. I’m still kinda pissed about that.

Soulja Boy “Crank Dat Soulja Boy (acapella)”
You.

Dead Prez “Hip Hop (instrumental)”
Back in the St. Louis days, this one used to clear out the booths and fill up the floor more than any other song at our weekly Litterthugz club night.

Peter Bjorn & John “Young Folks (acapella)”
This one sounds really good over a half-time beat. Last summer, we had a Peter, Bjorn, and a John all working in our design studio at the same time. It was around the same time that this song was huge and it was totally hilarious. LOLZ.

Dawn Penn “No No No”
Special request for my lady.

Rubinskee-Ochentayseis

The Toxic Avenger-Defeat!

T-Wrecks-Mixin' it Up
TRACKLIST:
“What Up World! Listen and enjoy…”

01 - Twista - Well It’s Time
“Well It’s Time To Begin”! The lyrics and feel of this song were perfect to start off the mix. It’s a bonus track from Twista’s new album produced by Kanye West, and it samples Feist.

02 - Paul McCartney feat. Michael Jackson - Say Say Say (12inch mix)
I had to throw on a funky 80s joint. Timeless feel good music from the classic duo.

03 - Justice - D.A.N.C.E (DJ Eli & Diplo Remix)
My favorite version/remix of D.A.N.C.E. - I played some David Bowie “Lets Dance” cuts/drops at the start to add some flavor. I cut up some b-more drums over the breakdown at the end while mixing in the next track (adds that turntablist feel to it).

04 - Kid Sister / Justin Timberlake - Damn Girl
I like playing around with songs that have similar track names or lyrics. This is the battle of the “Damn Girl”.

05 - Lil Mama - Lip Gloss (Kid Fresh ReFix)
Kid Fresh and Haterboy murder this one! I’ve been playin’ this one out for a while now. Big up to the Lordz of Fitness!

06 - Slum Village - EZ Up (T-Wrecks Remix)
The synths in the original ‘EZ Up’ were so dope that I had to do a remix. Detroit hip-hop will never die. R.I.P J-DILLA!

07 - Sinden vs Tag Team - Whoomp There It Is (DJ Illo’s 2007 TouchUp)
Another Stylusts production! Illo refreshes “Whoomp There It Is” for 2007.

08 - 50 Cent ft. Justin Timberlake - She Wants It (Edwin Van Cleef Remix)
Ayo Technology remix that just BANGS!!!

09 - Chromeo - Tenderoni (MSTRKRFT Remix)
Chromeo & MSTRKRFT! Two Canadian duos that are representin’ world wide.

10 - T-Wrecks - Oh Sheila Remix
I freaked it just enough that it still has the flavor of the original track and it bangs louder.

11 - Afrika Bambaataa - Get Up and Dance (Stylusts Remix)
We made this remix recently, so it’s not fully mastered yet. I just had to squeeze this track into the mix and let the people get a sneak peak of what the Stylusts are up to. We have a lot of interesting remixes coming so hold tight!

12 - DJ Neoteric - Stardust vs Nirvana
DJ Drastik put me onto this one. This blend works really well on the dance floor. Big up to Neoteric for holding down Canada’s West Coast.

13 - Stylusts - Playboy Ya Time’s Up!
DJ Drastik and I thought of remixing Benny Benassi’s “Satisfaction” because we liked the hard synths in it. The original track seems cheesy to me. It reminds me of Canadian strip clubs and Stephen Hawking. We decided to give the track more ass by adding dirty drums and different vocals. This remix works on the dance floor every time. We’re currently on a mission of remixing cheesy dance/rave songs and giving them some filth and swagger.

14 - Rustie - Preech Master
This beat just seemed to fit perfectly for a transition into the next song. Thanks to Rustie for sending me this one!

15 - Techtwelve & Mike Tull - T-Dot Slang
My boy Techtwelve and Mike Tull made this remix of Kardinal Offishall’s “Bakardi Slang”. The original track is a Toronto anthem - I had to represent somehow. Look out for those Techtwelve remixes!

16 - M.I.A - Bucky Done Gone (Risk One B’fix)
Risk One lets this one thump hard.

17 - T-Wrecks - Way I Are Remix
I made this when the track first came out but I didn’t leak it until recently. Google this one and download it!

18 - Soulja Boy - Crank Dat (Pop Rawkus Remix)
There are many remixes of this track but I chose the Pop Rawkus one because it bangs and it fit nicely into the mix. The Cousin Cole - ‘Crank Dat’ remix is real nice too.

19 - 50 Cent - I Get Money (ESTAW Gets Cash Fix)
I Get Money is a big track whether you like 50 Cent or not. ESTAW did up a crazy remix!

20 - Kanye West - Stronger (A-Trak Remix)

50 Cent vs Kanye West, the battle continues! I had to put these two tracks back to back. A-Trak destroys it with this one. Another extremely talented and influential DJ from Canada.

21 - Biggie - Everyday Struggle (Bird Peterson Remix)
Bird Peterson always brings the heat! This track is coming out on vinyl this fall. Be on the look out.

22 - Goldrocc - 93′Til Bmore (Instrumental) / Suzanne Vega - Tom’s Diner
This blend is an outro for the mix. I wanted to go out on a mellow tip and make it a ‘To Be Continued’ type ending.

Training Ride 1

Okay so my training ride is a bit ambitious at this point. The ride to the top of Iroquois park will definitely take some working up to. I think the extra hard work out last night added to the quick fatigue of my legs today. I still did about 6.5 miles this morning which is a good start. It's much harder for me to ride early, mainly due to my schedule at work, which is going to be going later. I'll have 3 days off then, so maybe I'll be able to get more training in soon. Lord knows I need it, I gots to get these legs and cardio up to par.

Working Out.

Started out eventful to say the least. I planned on putting 205lbs on the bench to see what I could do. The barbell is in a rack for "safety" reasons, sucks because I don't get to utilize the stablizing muscles as I would like. So I put the weight on, unhook the "safety" hooks and let the weight come down. I go to push it up and it doesn't move. For a second I'm like oh shit, then I stay calm and muscle it up onto the hooks and slide out. I look at it and I've got 235lbs on there, no wonder I think to myself. So I drop it down to 205lbs, first set I get 4 reps, second set 2 reps, third set 3 reps. That's a 20lb increase over the most I had previously benched, and I was able to get multiple reps. I was stoked, so I get two 50lb dumbells, lay on the bench and did three sets of 10 alternating presses. Then lifted heavier than normal on the rest of my workouts. I'm stoked to see the gains of strength in just 2 months of working out. Now I just got to get riding my bike more and doing cardio after each work out. By the end of summer I should be a finely tuned machine.

Spring has sprung!

It's almost hot out today. Was to tired to go for a big ride, so just goofed around in front of the house today. Doing some no handed track stands, and practicing technique for wheelies. Going to have to get some riding in whenever I can though, going to be doing lots of OT next week. Then going to Chicago to stay with marea, and then my new work schedule will be 3p-2a sun-mon, off tues, work wed-thurs, off fri-sat. Working until 2a will up my pay by $.50, so that'll make riding a bit more tricky as well as working out. I have added cardio to my workout so that'll help get me ready for the race next month.

I'm super stoked on this race, hopefully I don't end up DFL.

The Four Horsemen!

Ganked this from Trackosaurus

The first Bike Shorts was at
Monkey Town, which has four screens; one on
each wall. So obviously we needed to put together a four-screen piece.
Ken came up with the idea to run a bomb drop down Broadway and hand
pick four racers that would be more or less together.

It worked out perfectly. Unfortunately most of you only have one
monitor. So Ken did a version with all four cameras on one screen
special for you. Enjoy!

Ken Stanek did this with help from Chris Habib, Mike Green, me and a
number of others at check points.

Thanks to all that helped and raced.

Bike Ride dos!

Went on a ride tonight with my boy c-do. Did about 9 miles, rode from his spot on brownsboro to the belvedere, circled down to market, went to spinellis and grubbed, then took payne back to his place. Work sucked today, totally demoted someone from our department out of the blue, got me freaked a little. Jesse is gonna help me study for my ccna, get that and get something making more $. Going to buckle down and get back to making art, talking is over, time to do work, physically and creatively. The time is now!

Bike Ride!

Just did a nice 6 mile ride in 30 minutes, I even stopped at all traffic lights. I though it had taken longer since I wasn't really riding hard. I mean that's not super fast or anything, but I covered that area much faster than I thought I would have, I'm planning to start a 10 mile ride next week. It'll be 5 miles each way, on the way there I've got 3 pretty flat miles, then a 2 mile climb to the top of Iroquois Park. Then a 2 mile decent, and 3 fairly flat miles back. It'll be rough, but I got to get ready for the Gem City Massacre alleycat.

More Mixes!

Posting up a few more mixes prior to going on my bike ride this morning. These are coming from RACECARPRODUCTIONS. You can also check out and purchase their releases HERE just search for race car.

Weather!

Is warming up again, so I'll be riding my bike before work the next few days. Hoping to get up to a 10 mile ride with a mile long climb and descent everyday. Then start riding to and from work a few days a week. Got the first alleycat of the year for myself on May 17th, so I got to buckle down and get riding, and add cardio to my workouts. Thats all for now.

Holy Shittt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday was awesome, anybody that didn't make it to the show missed out big time. The Librarian and Evan Scott ripped shit for the first two hours. Then Kyle Geiger came on and fucking destroyed it. I can honestly say it was one of the best musical experiences in my life. I needed that shit so much, it was so damn fun. Just non stop banging techno, brutal. Anytime you get a chance to see Kyle Geiger, DO IT!

The Blogz is hottt!!!!!

So I've decided to promote this a little more and put more effort into it. It'll mainly revolve around bikes, music, skateboarding, and fashion to an extent. Anyway, it'll be having more content over the next month, possibly a few others contributing.

Bike Forums

Someone posted a thread for a Bike forums singlespeed/fixed gear spoke card competition. Here's my submission.

Another warm morning!

I got up and did a 5.5 mile ride in about 25 minutes, was a little tired, especially since I hit the gym last night after work and lifted. A little sore today but not bad at all. I'll have to do some cardio tonight after work. Training for the May 17th alleycat in Dayton, turns out Matt and I are going to do it, then roll back to the ville for his show. Tight.

It's so beautiful out!

Title says it all, another day of riding for me. I got in 40 miles yesterday, so will definitely get my 50 mile goal for the weekend. Matt Cooper came down yesterday so we got our ride on, stopped at the Pink Door, had a mini BKM reunion, and a hipster dance party was in the back. Was quite amusing, then we rode back. Off to get a shower and ride again.

Update: Just rode another 13 miles, so at 53 miles and feeling pretty good. Mainly sore from sitting on the saddle, haven't quite got used to that fully. Hoping to here from some more peeps today about riding again. Cooper left, was really great hanging with him, hope he can move back here soon. Have a great day, if you're in reading this, go out it's beautiful!

WTF!!!!!!!

Looks like a circular wall ride on a track bike, crazy!

It's finally Dry out!

So glad it's not raining today, got started on a ride at 9:30am, met up with my friend Nick at Quill's coffee shop. We rode from there to down town, rode around down there for a while took the riverfront bike/walking path (not sure what it's called) rode it until it was under water/covered with mud. We rode back, messed around down town, went to river rode, cut across to Frankfort ave. There is the front of an old looking building at the corner, looks as if it's about George Washington. Some kind of monument maybe? Anyway it was cool, then we crossed over, hit story to main, then to market and baxter up to the highlands. I ate at the always delicious Pita Delights, then rode home. That's a total of 24 miles, now off to go shop for Jesse and Karen's baby shower with Adrock.

I Am Legend!

Was a phenomenal book, by far the best book I've read in a long time. Not that I'm the most well read person, but it was so awesome. A truly heartbreaking story in my opinion, if you haven't read it I highly suggest you do.

The Lady Foursquare's new Mix!!!!!!

Get it while it's Hottt!!!!!!

In unrelated news Macaframa now has their site up, looks pretty nice too!

My First Alleycat of the year!

I can't wait, I still got about a month to get ready. This weekend is going to be nice, so I'm going to try to at least knock out 50 miles in two days. Got to get back in the gym tomorrow.

Edit, actually not able to go to this. My boy Matt, aka The Librarian is playing here in town that day, so gonna stay in town for that.

Hotttnesss!!!

Books and Music!

Currently I'm reading I am Legend. Hadn't read it before, and am Loving it!

Next Friday April 11th, I'll be traveling up to the COV, to see Kyle Geiger, The Librarian, and Evan Scott at clique, w00t!
