Tokyo Trixx Fix: Shiba Koen & Ramps from Eli Tokyo Jitensha-Jin on Vimeo.

Hell to the yizzeah!

First off HELLHOUSE IV is going down this year! More on that later. I had an awesome workout today, decided to see what my max bench was. So I started out with 225lbs, and got 4 reps, so went up to 235, got 2 reps, went to 245 and got one rep fairly easy, went to 250lbs and got one rep and had to work for it. Then dropped down to 245 for 1 rep, 225 for 2 reps, then 205 for 5 reps, and 135 for like 15 reps. I'm pretty stoked on the gains in strength for sure, then did heavy seated lat pulls, 3 sets of 5 with 150lbs, then vertical pull downs 3 sets of 4 with 150 lbs. Doing light weight tomorrow, get some riding in on thursday hopefully.

Today.

I rode to work today, it was hot, so made the ride challenging, plus I think I could have hydrated myself better before leaving. It's about 16 miles the way I went to work today. I got there and it was busy, stayed busy until midnight, was so glad to leave at 2am. Was pretty tired, especially for the first few miles, then my muscles warmed up and it was pretty smooth sailing after that, had a few periods where i did recovery riding, especially down hill. I made sure to try and climb each hill hard as I could and keep a decent cadence after climbing said hill. I had just finished the third and biggest climb on Eastern Parkway, and had gotten to a decent cadence. I notice car lights, slowly moving up beside me. I think oh great, just what I need. Then I hear a girl saying wooooo, hi five, I look by and a couple is slowly going by, the girl with her hand out the window. I realize it and they pass by so I speed up, some so do they, and I say too fast, they slow down, and the hi five is made. Yes! They drive on off and that energized me. I picked up cadence again, came to the bridge by U of L and decided to stand and climb it. It was much easier than I expected, and had much more momentum at the top. I wasn't much on standing and climbing since I'm over 200lbs, but I may have figured it out finally. Now I'm home, protein shake in belly, about to cook a $1 pizza w00t!

You know what sucks?

Nobody showing up for a group ride, that was not tight. I did get to meet up with Trevor, ride for a bit, hit Spinelli's. Wait for it, more suckage, and then got to ride home in a thunderstorm. Not much rain thankfully, but wind, some rain, lightning, and thunder. Next Tuesday will be better!!!!!!!!

Noise/Floor Crew Remixes Portishead!!!!!

Grabbed this from Trash Menagerie, it's SOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

poopy

For those who dont know, The Noise/Floor Crew, started by Lady Foursquare, Angel Alanis (my partner in War Games) and Local Hero, has been in the process of remixing the entirety of Portishead’s “Third” since about a month before it came out.

It began as one critically acclaimed remix of “Machine Gun” that was begging for more drums and snowballed into an all out reinterpretation of Portishead’s minimal masterpiece. Most are by NFC but we enlisted a couple of other producers, namely Flufftronix, 12th Planet, ASiH and A. Black, to round out the album. A few tracks were left in a somewhat recognizable state but most were torn to shreds and reassembled into an almost unrecognizable form. The individual tracks cover a broad range of styles from house to electro to minimal to maximal that all came together to make one hell of an album.

Is it better than the original? Am I allowed to ask that given my involvement? I guess it depends what you’re into, but our take certainly brings it out of the lofty art-rock realm and without dumbing it down. Anyways, I’ll quit talking it up and let you be the judge. I’m curious to see what Portishead will say about this since, in the past, they’ve been so staunchly against remixes of their own music. Below is a link to the entire album in a tidy .zip along with a lengthy (tl;dr) description of who Noise/Floor Crew really is. I thought I’d also give it to you track by track as well but I’d recommend listening to it as a whole album. And be sure to go to somewhere besides itunes (damn the man) and buy Portishead’s album as well.

A good day it's been.

First I got up and chilled with the dogs, then went to work to workout. It was a really good workout, which almost didn't happy since I had thought about foregoing that for sitting at the house. I'm glad I went in and lifted. I decided to see what I could do with 205lbs on the bench today. Last time I had that much on there I got a set of 4 and 2 sets of 3. To my surprise I got a set of 10 reps, then 6 reps, then 5 reps. Then I did 3 sets of 10 alternating dumbell presses with 45lbs in each hand. This was just more reassurring that I'm getting stronger. The rest of the work out went well, nothing unusual about it. I did add jump squats, and normal squats back to the work out. I didn't ride as well as I would have liked this past Tuesday on our group ride, so I got to get the legs stronger. Then I came home and finished the studio upstairs. Sounds great, and now I just have to get the downstairs pc up and running.
