Vampire Hunter D!

Just watched the original and the Second movie Bloodlust. The first was good, art is dated, but the new one was awesome. Great story, art, everything about it was awesome. The premise is that D is a vampire hunter, half vampire/half human. If you're into vampires I highly recommend Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust, check the site http://www.vampirehunterdbloodlust.com/

Also there are Manga versions being done, you can read about them at http://www.vampire-d.com/home.php

Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Democrats!

I don't do this very often, but I just read something that really upset me. Only 33% of Hilary supporters said they would vote for Barack if he gets the nomination. Something like 41% of Hilary supporters would vote for McCain! Really!? That is the most ridiculous thing I've read in a long time. So instead of supporting your party and the idea of change in the White House you vote for McCain. McCain is another puppet ready to promote the Republican agenda. Wake up people! Hilary and Barack, you two need to wake up as well. If you love your Party and Country so much work together, and run for office together, unite the Party not divide it. Politics and Politicians are so backwards, it's sad that Americans don't even want to hold anybody accountable for their actions. The number one checks and balances in the U.S. is supposed to be it's citizen's, our forefathers must be rolling in their graves more and more every year. I want change Dammit!

Kentucky! Get out and vote!

I did my part and voted for Obama, to top it off my spoke cards came in that i ordered from HERE I got two spoke cards and the two stickers pictured below for $1.

Now it's off to put down some miles on the streets since I'm off today. Hollerrrr!!!

The Librarian & Evan Scott!

Killed that shit Saturday night. I was so stoked just to get to hang with my friends. First we got some grub at Qdoba and it was delicious as always, then hit up Home Skateshop, where I picked up the new Death Skateboards video Better Than Life. It is an awesome video. After that we just chilled until it was time to go to ZA's, best calzones ever! Then to the club, the played some of the best techno I've heard in a while. Looking forward to seeing them play again, if you weren't there you missed out. Once that was over we hit up Krogers and got some pizzas. Came back home and Marea had finished her track For Matt and Evan's label Racecar Productions . It's a really banging evil track, the plan is to Get Angel Alanis and Kyle Geiger(hopefully) to do remixes! Expect big things from Racecar Productions in the near future. Yesterday I went to work, tired and just not feeling it at all. My coworkers were like if you don't want to be here then go home, so I did. I took a 2 hour nap, it was good too. Got 8 hours of sleep and feel totally exhausted still. I'll be going into work early today to work out so hopefully that'll get me feeling better as well as these aspirins I'm about to take. I'll be getting some more music posted in the next Couple of days.

Stoked!

I'm glad Matt and Evan are coming down to play. Without Marea here I don't see many live dj's really, or hear them on a regular basis. Mainly due to my work schedule, so tonight is going to be a blast, plus I get to here Ben play and he is always solid as well. I got some good riding in yesterday, about 15 miles or so. Since being back from Chicago I've got a total of 91 miles in, so I'm stoked about that. Going to get back in the gym this week, so I'll have to drive to work on Monday and Wednesday, if weather is good Thursday I plan on riding my bike to work again, and if it's good Friday, I'll ride to work, work out, and then ride home. My plan is to weather permitting, ride to work on Sunday, and Thursday. Drive on Monday, and Wednesday, that way I can take gym clothes etc with me. Then Friday when I'm off, ride to work, workout, then ride home. If I can get to ride those 3 days, that'll be 28 miles a day so 84 miles a week right there, plus 3 hours in the gym a week, not counting riding I do on my other days off. If I can get into this steadily I'll be able to accomplish my resolution of getting in the best shape of my life. It's going to be a lot of work since I'm heavier than ever, but in the short time I've been lifting again I've already made noticeable gains in strength, which is my main goal. I'm not concerned with getting super huge, I want to get a flat stomach, and get strong.

Tonight!

Evan Scott vs.The Librarian
Sam Gracie vs.Ben Alan
Bolus

10pm - 4am
21 and up
$5 cover

Featuring:
Evan Scott (RaceCarProductions)

Evan Scott started as an accomplished producer under the moniker Contrivance, having released 2 albums of dark, beat-heavy drum and bass and a number of releases that expressed the ambience and mathematics of idm and electro. His discography as Contrivance implemented a musical chiaroscuro, melding the light with the dark and painting beauty with undertones of the grotesque. He then embarked on a vacation from his previous moniker and spent time exploring alternate forms of instrumentation and expression. Through DJing as well as the discovery of newly found technology, Evan Scott honed his skills managing to meld a myriad of genres including idm, micro house, and minimal techno. After his 2 year hiatus, he released Crane on RaceCarProductions. This single was a precursor to his EP entitled Five Style Fists; however, this is not his finale, Evan Scott has a remix to come out on Moodgadget in 2008 and has a handful of other releases as well. Much is still to come from this young prodigy.

The Librarian (RaceCarProductions)

The Librarian, the moniker of Ohio-based Matthew Cooper, brings new life to a club scene that has become status quo with unabashed charisma and showmanship. His heart lies in the sounds of techno with strong gothic undertones and minimal composition. Constantly on the cusp of the avant-garde, he delights in giving listeners a sound that they generally have never heard. As a DJ he has performed with artists such as Ark, Outputmessage, Derek Plaslaiko, Kate Simko, JPLS, Skoozbot, and Ryan Elliott of international fame. Although he has primarily been a DJ for the last four and a half years, production is his new direction and love. The Librarian brought us his first single entitled The Hornet’s Nest from his forthcoming EP titled The Colony due out this March that features a remix from JPLS from the Minus Camp.

Sam Gracie (Resonant Vibes)

Sam Gracie grew up in the rural escapes of the North of England and was captivated at an early age by electronic music. With Newcastle’s clubland explosion in the early 90s, Sam found himself regularly attending the now legendary "Shindig" club night. Sam’s electronic music education continued in Glasgow, Scotland while he was attending university. He was exposed to a barrage of Detroit-influenced sounds that got him hooked on techno; the massive subs, dark rooms, sweaty crowds, and pounding beats. Sam moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 2001 and soon afterward started a weekly night with a DJ partner under the moniker "Child of the Beat." At the time, it was the only weekly night in Louisville where locals could hear quality underground music, and it was at one of these nights that Sam met his future Resonant Vibes partner, Eddie Babbage.

In 2004, Sam started to work with Eddie on ideas for ResonantVibes. com; a website offering downloads of electronic music and samples, free streaming mixes, DJ profiles, and other related content. Today, Sam continues to DJ throughout the Midwest and in other major cities including Miami, San Francisco, and Chicago.

Ben Alan (Louisville House Music)

Ben Alan’s DJ career started in 2000. His sound has been influenced strongly by early progressive house legends such as Sasha and Digweed, Steve Lawler and Layo and Bushwacka!. After holding down several residences around Louisville, Ben started moving into the darker, deeper direction of techno and minimal. Ben’s current sound is reminiscent of techno legends Richie Hawtin (aka Plastikman), Steve Bug, and Adam Beyer. Ben is a "keyholder" of Louisville’s favorite underground event cycle "Hushabye House" and currently holds down a residency at Nios 917 Baxter Ave.

Bolus (scummed up productions)

Bolus is a 10-year veteran DJ and maven of the dance music scene. Over the years he has been significantly involved within many facets of the industry in Europe and North America. In 2000 Bolus began working promotions for the legendary clubs Renaissance and Pacha in Ibiza, Spain. Since then he has spent 5 seasons on the island promoting parties for some of the world’s best clubs and DJing events. He also DJed and promoted a number of warehouse parties and clubs in London, England during the time he lived there. Having been influenced by clubs such as home, Fabric, DC10, and Space, Bolus’ sound is described by many as an edgy, bass-driven and sometimes quirky blend of minimal house and techno.

Muto by Blu

Saw this on Prolly's blog, it's pretty freaking awesome.

MUTO a wall-painted animation by BLU from blu on Vimeo.

This video is great and the artwork is amazing to me. I see something like this and I get so hyped on doing art, at the same time I feel like I'm the most unoriginal person doing art ever. This is so different than what I've seen or see on a regular bases. I guess I just need to start drawing/painting/sculpting again and shut up, actually that IS exactly what I need to do.

Glad today is over.

Got my car out of the shop, that was $500, good bye tax stimulus check. Got called into work on my day off, granted I need the money, but I was tired. Realizing that since I got home on Friday I've rode 80 miles on my bike. I think tomorrow will be a day of rest for sure before work, I may go in early and work out, haven't got to lift since I left for Chicago last week. I really have to get focused right now, I've been doing good about exercise, just got to get the diet together a little more(as in what I eat, not some trend diet crap), and carry my motivation into other areas of life. I've got to get cracking on my ccna, once I get that I'll have a few more options job wise and hopefully will get my paper up. Need to actually start drawing again, it's been so long, plus need to learn illustrator/photoshop. Planning on getting the studio together here at the house in the next month, that way mu has a place to work when home and I have a place to work as well. I'm definitely planning on some sort of metal project with my friend Josh, and just going to start making music. I always wanted to play bass in a punk band, now I have no excuses, for any slacking in any area really. I'm hyped and shit is getting done this year, plain and simple. I fixed the players on the previous music post, now you can listen to some of the tracks. Off to bed shortly.

Maral Salmassi-Back Up Your Ass (direct download)

Maral Salmassi Official Biography
Maral Salmassi, born on 24th July 1975 in Teheran, first grew up in Persia and later in Jordan. With the fall of the Shah’s regime in 1979, the family was forced to return to Persia and after seven years under the Islamic regime, they managed to escape from a country subverted by the war between Iran and Iraq and settled in Germany in 1986.

Among the many characteristically uncharacteristic Techno protagonists in Cologne, Maral Salmassi is the most uncharacteristic one: nothing in her work refers to the specific Cologne style or can be defined as “made-in-Cologne”. On her early label Konsequent Records for example, there were mainly straight Tool Techno releases in style of Berlin-based Tresor label sounds. Today, Maral produces funky, playful Glamour Tech which is more a combination of New York Wave Disco, old school hip hop and electro and French Cut-Up Hop than Cologne Post-Minimal sounds and styles.

Maral Salmassi started her career as a DJ in Cologne in 1994. In 1997, she founded the label Konsequent Records and became co-partner of Cologne-based Oldschool Electro and Miami Bass distribution Formic Distributions. In 1999, she founded the label, Art of Perception, with a number of opulent soundtrack series and releases from Jimi Tenor, Kim Cascone, Bochum Welt, Alter Ego, Christian Morgenstern and Andrew Watherall. In 2002, she founded Television Records with releases from artists such as John Starlight aka Zombie Nation, Quesh, Kitbuilders or Codec & Flexor.

Since 2003, she works mainly on her own productions as producer and singer and can look back to a number of co-operations with acts such as Ascii Disco, Zombie Nation and Zero Cash aka Fabian Stall. In early 2005, together with Fabian Stall – known for co-productions with acts and bands, for example FM Einheit, Khan (Captain Comatose) and Air Liquide – she founded the band project Golden Days. And in 2007, both founded the label Television Records conceived as a platform for their own solo projects.

One more thing!

Damn it, seriously going to bed after this. Thanks to Prolly isn't Probably's blog I'm still up posting this

I literally lol'd!

Whew!

Just got home a bit ago, rode my bike to work today after dropping the car off at the shop. It was a 12 mile ride from Tachyon, took about 1.5 hours, took my time. Worked until 2am, and had to ride 14 miles back home. The air was brisk for sure, I had to stop a few times and rest, still made it home in an hour though. So I'm pretty stoked on that, means I was averaging at least 14 mph. Finally got to watch the bootleg sessions 2 trailer posted below, I'm looking forward to it. Not ground breaking, but sure looks like people having fun and enjoying riding, which half the time is just as enjoyable to watch as super tech tricks if you ask me. Later today a big music update will be posted, off to bed now.

Chicago Promoters heed the warning!

http://savechicagoculture.org/2008/05/09/stop-the-promoters-ordinance/

I would ask that you circulate this as widely as you can today. If you have
access to an email blast, do one ASAP. Also please take time personally
respond to the post at the bottom. The link above is functioning as a sort
of petition. Chicago needs your help.

The promoter's ordinance would require stringent restrictions and costs to
organize just about any event where there aren't a large number of fixed
seats. It affects independent organizers of music, theater, comedy and dance
even when they use safe and legal venues with Public Place of Amusement
licenses. PPA licenses (already required in Chicago) include coverage for
liability already. The cost of the ordinance is prohibitively high and the
language is vague. Stop the ordinance before it stops us.

The details:

The "Event Promoters" ordinance requires any event promoter to have a
license from the city of Chicago and liability insurance of $300,000, but
that's just the start:

* The definition of "event promoter" is so loosely defined it could
apply to a band that books its own shows or a theater company that's in town
for a one-week run.
* "Event Promoter" must be licensed and will pay $500 - $2000 depending
on expected audience size.
* To get the license, applicant must be over 21, get fingerprinted,
submit to a background check, and jump over several other hurdles.
* This ordinance seems targeted towards smaller venues, since those with
500+ permanent seats are exempt.
* Police must be notified at least 7 days in advance of event.

Bootleg Sessions 2.

Enjoy this, I can't watch it at work for some reason. I'll have to check it when I get home tonight.

Ultra Pop.

Hit up This toy/soon to be streetwear shop on sat. I got an awesome 16 inch Gloomy Bear figure, and a Death Adders T-shirt from Miska clothing. I hope more people frequent this shop so he can expand an carry more streetwear/underground clothing, we don't have anything like that here really.

Vacation!

Is over unfortunately, I stayed in Chicago for the week with Marea. It was great to see her, I miss her more than words can describe. Til death do us part my love. Things are going good for her, she's getting work done, and getting tracks made. I'm so proud of her, I don't think I tell her that enough, I'm the luckiest man in the world. Hopefully we can figure out a better living situation soon, maybe I'll end up there with her for a while, only time will tell I guess. Got back home Friday afternoon, car is going to the shop Monday, it's so hating on my transportation freedom. My working out/bike riding was 0 up in Chicago, so I put a hurt on the bike the last two days. Did 15 miles on Friday, and around 37ish miles yesterday. I'm feeling it for real, had to ride in the rain last night, no so stoked about that. Came home and wiped the bike down and lubed all the steel parts to prevent rust(hopefully), tire went flat, got some kind of puncture in it. Need to fix that as I'm riding to work tomorrow, that's going to be interesting for sure. I'll be doing a big music update Tuesday as I just don't have a lot of time today and definitely won't tomorrow. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL BABY MOMMA'S!!!!!!!

Marea, Radek- Dust Traxx Article!

Time Out Chicago

REMAKING TRAXX Hawryszczuk and Stamper tune in to club trends.

Working(out) & Riding!

So I've been working mad OT this week at work, since Sunday I've put in 46 hours (getting my paper up), so today I'm going in at 5pm, w00t. I worked out the last two days since I couldn't Monday night. Both nights were good workouts. Last night prior to the workout I weighed myself, to my delight I was down to 209lbs, from 215lbs, only thing I've changed was in the last two weeks I've been trying to keep my calorie intake to around 2000 calories, this includes protein shakes for after working out or riding. So I'm pretty stoked about that. If I can drop another 6-10 before the race on May 17th that should help a lot. I went for a 10.5 mile ride today, and let me say that headwinds suck. Today was bad, at least for Louisville, 15-20 mph winds with gusts up to 35mph. I can only imagine what it'll be like in Chicago next week. Oh and if you're reading this and in Chicago, get at me to ride during the day next week. That's all for now, probably some small updates throughout the day, plan on a big music post on Saturday.
